Teaching, Learning, and the Quest for Well-Being: Psychiatrists as Physician-Educators

With a peculiar vision, psychiatrists focus on what makes us human, what makes us suffer, and what makes us thrive; it is this vision that appears to help clinicians to help others. Academic psychologist, Carol Ryff, explains the vitality of personal growth for psychological well-being, she means: “…continued development; sees self as growing and expanding; … is changing in ways that reflect more self-knowledge and effectiveness.â€‌ In this issue of Psychiatric Annals, Norris, Khin, and their team of contributors show how mental health clinicians can teach and inadvertently learn and grow, thereby enhancing their own well-being.
